Faith? (Spring 1993)
A much more 'professional' effort than Sacre à la Tronçonneuse, Faith? was conceived and written throughout 1992/93 with old pals Ruan Rossi and Luc Ardilouze, whom I'd just met when he was 'in between' fanzines after his successful tenure on Poulets Basquaise. I was quite young and always the snotty little know-it-all back then, really pissed at how the emergence of Black Metal had 'tainted' my beloved Death Metal scene, hence the numerous stabs at the genre you will read in those pages. The 'Gay Mayhem' bit on the front cover did not go down very well among certain people. Looking back, it does indeed seem rather puerile, although if you'd ask me now to choose between Immortal and The Village People, I'd still be the first in line at the YMCA. At the time, my heart was rooting more and more for traditional Heavy Metal and the more generic extreme forms of music were starting to get me on my nerves... Ruan and I would start a Heavy/Power Metal newsletter shortly after, of which 3 issues were released under the name Power & Might.
