MINIONS
THE BAND THAT TIME FORGOT!
MINIONS is one of my most heartfelt disappointments. After the demise of HORRORS OF THE BLACK MUSEUM and once the fun with RÖTÖR Mark I was over, JC & I really wanted to combine our mutual love for horror movie soundtracks and our waning interested in heavy music together, in the form of a new all-instrumental band. I would tackle keyboards and samplers for the first time in my life, he would stay on bass with a very pure, very clean sound, and Tristan from SPACE PATROL would join us on drums. We rehearsed a lot and really took time to write the songs you're going to hear for the first time.
First time? Yes, you read that right. MINIONS was cursed from the very start. First off, the name we'd chosen for ourselves quickly became associated with the cartoon characters from Despicable Me. Following that, when we decided it was time to record our first proper demo, we went to a studio and paid for Tristan's drum parts to be recorded. We could always do the rest by ourselves!! Fuck it, I'll do it myself! You should never trust your own (in)abilities... This demo never appearing anywhere is entirely my fault... It took me ages to record my synth parts and then, I felt nothing was gelling properly. A few weeks after that, my old PC died in a hard disk crash and all I had left were poor mixed down versions of the songs on another drive. Consequently, MINIONS would shortly disband after that... Another incarnation of RÖTÖR was looming, featuring almost the complete reunited SPACE PATROL line-up... and DIEU, another instrumental band, would not be far behind...

A DEMO LOST IN SPACE!
Not long ago, I decided to fix what I could and tried to salvage a proper master out of my old .wav files...
Here it is. Not much of a demo, think of it as a time capsule from my early daze toying with synths. The good thing is that I still love these songs after all these years! Thanks to J.C. and Tristan for still talking to me after this huge failure!
